2010 Soque River Ramble 6K Run & Walk

Saturday, October 23, 2010 @ 9:00 AM

Event Overview

This will be the fourth annual Soque River Ramble 6K Run & Walk following three very successful years in 2007, 2008 & 2009. Last year we had 169 registered participants in the run & walk, and after expenses we were able to donate a total of $2400 to the Batesville Community Association and the Soque River Watershed Association.

Attracting both the serious competitive racer and the occasional runner/walker, the 6K Run/Walk provides an opportunity for participants of all ages to support the local Batesville Community Association and the Soque River Watershed Association in a family-friendly atmosphere in one of the most beautiful areas of northeast Georgia. We look forward to your attendance and participation in this fun event in 2010!

Location
The run & walk starts and finishes at the property of Marlan Wilbanks located at 860 Old Chimney Mountain Road in unincorporated Batesville (Clarkesville) in northern Habersham County.  Batesville is noted for its gentle mountainous terrain and fertile river valleys that give the area its unique beauty.  The start and finish line and registration area will be staged on the scenic banks of the Left Fork Soque River where it meets the Right Fork Soque River to form the headwaters for the renowned Soque River, one of the premier trout streams in the southeast.

Main Event
The race & walk is 6 kilometers (3.75 miles), along with a one mile "fun run" immediately preceding the main event. The run qualifies for credits in the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix Series and computerized race results will be available at the finish line. The route is mostly gentle terrain on paved and gravel roads that meanders through the Soque and Goshen Valleys, and along the headwaters of the Soque River.
